The current economic reality in post-1994 South Africa is that Black people continue to be at the fringes of the economy. Unemployment is rife in this section of the population, with many living in conditions of poverty. This situation is a direct result of the policies institutionalised by the previous Government.
With the changes in Government in 1994, there was an expectation that the new order will give Black people access to opportunities previously denied to them.
Failure to create conditions in which these expectations can be met could not only result in continued restrictions on economic growth, but could also lead to social instability.
At Channel Data we understand and accept the expectations of Black South Africans for improved participation in the economy and a better future in the country of their birth.
We support the need for change and the creation of an economic climate in which these expectations are realised.
At Channel Data we also see transformation as a business imperative, necessary for the success of business and the growth of the economy of our country through expanded aggregate demand.
We therefore support efforts to create conditions for change in the economic order through policies that make it possible for economic benefits to flow to Black people, through BBEE.
